Yeah, so I haven't writtin in a very long time. I really need to get better about this.
My husband and I just started our own Handmade Soap business, WillowBend Bath. So far we have 6 scents with more coming soon. We started our Etsy site and sold soap at the flea market last weekend. For our first official month in May, we didn't do too shabby. I think we sold 15 bars or so. And so far in June we have sold 3. We will be doing the flea market again on June 13th, and try to do it one weekend a month until October. The summer months are just too warm, both for us and the customers.
We are also starting our own screenprinting/embroidery business. Jeff has all kinds of really cool ideas for screen prints, and I am going to start embroidering accessories and clothing.
I am going to get better about posting daily, and at the very least weekly.

Happy Day!
Happy Day! I just found out today, that I am not out of business. Etsy Etsy(the awesome online retailer where my shop is located) posted a wonderful article about our rights and responsibilities. Basically we are still liable if something does have over the allowed amount of lead, but we currently don't have to provide testing of our items to consumers for at least 1 year.
Oh, man this means I need to get back to work! I let all my awesome kid and baby stuff sit idle.

Boredom
Yeah, so this is the kind of stuff that I do when I am bored. It is basically a bunch of lines to form a design. But I really don't think that this picture gives it justice.
25 Random Facts
1. I am the oldest, but my sister KM and I were raised practically as twins since we are only 11 months apart and were in the same grade.
2. My husband J was actually my first love in high school, we both married other people, were divorced and he found me again 8 years later.
3. I love to sew and have a sewing business, MyBabyDaisies.etsy.com
4. I won a full scholarship to attend a private high school when I was younger, out of 50 or so applicants. I turned it down, to...
5. I can play the oboe. (I would have had to take private lessons to get caught up at the private school, and my family couldn't afford it).
6. My sister KM and I were both 7 lbs 6 oz, born on Tuesdays, and 2 days early.
7. I have trouble remembering simple "to-do's" but can remember completely useless facts.
8. I hate my name, Sara. There is no variations or nicknames, like my sisters have.
9. I got married for the first time to M's dad one week after my high school graduation.
10. J and I got married during Mardi Gras, almost on a Mardi Gras float.
11. I only cut my hair when it is long enough to donate. I have done this 4 times.
12. I like to read, but mostly just flip.
13. I am a typical Libra, and procrastinate horribly.
14. I took ballet (pointe-on your toes) until I was 17.
15. I was a camp counselor at a Girl Scout camp, my name was Wildflower.
16. I was a trained lifeguard, but now hate to swim.
17. I am completely paranoid that I will get skin cancer, so I avoid the sun and swimming. (It runs in my family, and I was burnt a lot as a kid)
18. I bought a house as a 23 year old single mom, we sold to move.
19. J and I moved to Louisiana on a whim. Decided on April 30th, put house on market May 15th, it sold right away, and we moved June 4th.
20. I was almost a foreign exchange student to Austraila. Didn't earn enough money in time.
21. My sister KM and I don't look anything alike, but my youngest sister KL is a mash-up of the two of us.
22. I am the only one is my family with fair skin and blonde hair, convinced myself I was adopted when I was younger.
23. I could have graduated high school early, but chose to stay and go half days my senior year so that my school would pay for college classes.
24. I was going to be an architect and join the Air Force after high school.
25. I used to have a ferret name WeinerCoon. She was a weiner raccoon!

Kudos for M
Why as a mother do I get a warm tingly feeling anytime anyone says something nice about my daughter? I received an email from her principal yesterday, and he commented "We are glad to have M at school, and her teacher was remarking to me the other day what a quick mind she has and how much her penmanship has improved this year".
To really appreciate this comment, I need to give you a little background. We moved to Louisiana from Iowa this past summer. In kindergarten, M was well above the other students. Her teacher actually encouraged M to help the other kids, and was constantly applauding her eagerness to help. So, when we moved I found a private school here that I was happy with and we met with the principal and her teacher. They wanted to see if it would be possible to move her into 2nd grade with the other students her age (the deadline to start school is different, as based on age she should be in 2nd here). They were very impressed with her reading, and math comprehension. So, they put her into 2nd grade.
At the beginning of the year, she was struggling a little bit, and her teacher was contemplating putting her back into 1st. She had never been introduced to penmanship or grammar before, and her teacher was just concerned that she would fall farther behind and would possibly have to repeat the 2nd grade because she would not be ready for 3rd. And it doesn't help any that they give the student ciriculmn that is one grade above. So, technically speaking M skipped 2 grades!
I asked if we could at least wait until the end of the 1st quarter, and I would work with her more at home. Well, the end of the 2nd quarter came and report cards came home. M had all A's and B's and made honor roll. I so badly wanted to tell her teacher, "I told you so!" But I kept my mouth shut, and just said "I knew she could do it".
My hubby and I were discussing last night if M's school teaches them ciriculum a year ahead would she honestly be ready to graduate at the end of 9th grade and take the GED exam? I know we are just dreaming, but she had always been far ahead of other children her age. But it is nice to dream and be a proud mommy.

Inspiration
I think that I have just received inspiration. I am always so envious of other blogs that I read, and just can not figure out how mine is lacking. But I have come to realize that I need to put more of me into it, and get back to my original plan.
I need to get back into making things and posting how-to's.

New Direction for MyDaisyJane
With the coming of CPSIA taking effect on February 10th, I am being forced to go into a different direction for MyDaisyJane for now. I can not make anything for babies or children under 12, because getting everything that I make tested for lead isn't cost effective. (Don't get me wrong, I am completely for the law, but as a part-time crafter I just don't have the means to have everything tested).
I will focus primarily on things that are meant for mom's: my jewelry, books, beads. And anything that is all ages, I will add a disclaimer that it is not intended for anyone under 12: my coin purses, etc. While my real passion is in the baby things, I only have to think of this as a minor setback. Maybe someone is telling me that my other creations are my true calling, and basically karma has been leading me in the right direction lately.
So, this weekend I am making a plan to make some books and possibly a couple of pieces of jewelry. While CPSIA slowed me down, they can't stop me!

New Year's Resolution
I have finally came to a New Year's resolution. Yeah the Libra in me procrastinated! My resolution is to get MyDaisyJane.com up and running.
